Ed Pollock’s sister, Leah, and several others will be headed out to Ethiopia for the Gambella Library project next Thursday. Leah is asking for many prayers as they navigate this trip as there are several hurdles to clear.
First, they will all be COVID tested on Wednesday, therefore hope everyone’s test comes back negative. They were also hoping to miss the rains in Ethiopia but so far there has been quite a bit of rain and therefore flooding in certain areas. Pray that the rain will stop soon and not affect their work too much. Pray for the loss of life from the floods, details are unclear currently, but she knows it has been bad. Pray that the roads will be open, and they will not have trouble getting trucks to transport the building from Addis to Gambella.
Praise God that the blocks are being made and should be ready for us. Pray that we will be able to find the needed supplies in Gambella and will not need to truck more things in from Addis.
Prayers for their safe travels and everything ahead of them that they are trying to accomplish. Pray for them as they follow through on Ed’s vision.
In a time of crisis, when their country is overflowing with refugees from neighboring war-torn Sudan, the churches of the Western Gambella Bethel Synod (with roots in the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A.) are desperate for pastors to serve their people. This GoFundMe will fund the construction of a seminary library that is required to train pastors to serve the overwhelming needs for church leaders in Ethiopia. The project is supported by PCUSA missionaries Michael and Rachel Weller and their ongoing ministry in Ethiopia: https://www.presbyterianmission.org/ministries/missionconnections/the-rev-michael-and-rachel-weller/
